Game Recap

The Lady Stags closed out their regular season with a bang, posting a 2-0 win over district rival Hanahan. The Lady Hawks looked to be off to a wide open start on their Senior Night, challenging g the Stag defense with a sustained numbers-up attack. The defense held, supported by a strong performance in the goal by sophomore Emma Chavis. Junior defender Madeline Pinson shook off an apparent ankle injury to stay strong in the back, and the Stags went into the half 0-0. The second half saw the Stags on the attack, turning the tables on the Hanahan defense. Twice in quick succession midfielder Alyssa Morrell slipped the ball through to forward Shelby McCutchen, who found the back of the net to give the Stags the 2-0 lead. The Berkeley defense stood strong to maintain the shutout to end the Stags’ regular season play with the win. Berkeley finishes season play at 13-7 overall and will travel to Hartsville for the first round of the playoffs on Monday.
