The Berkeley High School boys track and field team placed first among four teams in a home meet on March 21. The girls placed second behind Cane Bay, and ousting Hanahan and Lake Marion.
The boys clinched first in several events. Junior DJ Chisolm claimed first place in the 100-meter dash (11.21) and long jump (20-00.00) and junior Jaquon Williams clinched first in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.43) and 110-meter hurdles (15.53). Jeremiah Mack ousted 19 others in the 200-meter dash (22.65.)
Dervon Pesnell notched a 5-10.00 score in the high jump.
The boys also came in first in the four by 100-meter relay.
For the girls, juniors Jaquoia Williams and Kaliece Pinckney shined. Williams sprinted for first place in the 100-meter dash (12.58), and came first in the long jump (16-03.00). Senior Kaliece Pinckney had no issues in the 200-meter dash with a first-place time of 26.42. Pinkckney clinched first in the 400-meter dash with a 1:00.69 mark.
Sereena McQueen represented Berkeley with a first-place 100-meter hurdles time of 17.12.
On the field, Karmen Taylor notched a 114-11 mark in the discus throw.
