The Berkeley softball squad clinched the District VIII title over Lugoff-Elgin on Wednesday, punching a ticket to the Class 4A Lower State final four tournament.
Berkeley (24-2) will play at home Saturday to begin Lower State.
The Stags edged the Demons 5-4 on Wednesday after beating Lugoff-Elgin 6-2 on Saturday.
The Demons got on top early with two runs in the top of the second inning. Berkeley responded in the bottom of the third when Kinsey Hutto and Raelee Brabham batted runners home.
With the game tied in the bottom of the fifth, Brabham singled on a Popfly that drove Brooklyn Stueness to the plate. Diamond McKelvey connected on a sacrifice fly that led to a Berkeley 4-2. Haylee Wilkerson had the final RBI for Berkeley.
Brabham led Berkeley from inside the circle with 13 strikeouts. She also tallied two RBIs.
