Berkeley High School’s Jeffrey Zeigler won the Hanahan Invitational Tournament’s home run derby on Sunday afternoon, hitting 37 home runs in four regular 2-minute rounds and two one-minute playoff rounds. Zeigler knocked off Jonathan Barham of Hanahan in the final. It was Zeigler’s second clutch performance in less than a week. On April 8, he threw a one-hitter and struck out seven in Berkeley’s region-clinching victory, 4-0, over Cane Bay in Moncks Corner.
The 50th annual H.I.T. begins April 15 and winds down with the championship games on April 18.
