The Moncks Corner Lions Club high school football jamboree is slated for Aug. 16 at Berkeley High School.
The second Lions Club jamboree will have eight squads under the lights preparing for the 2019 season, including two that didn’t play in the inaugural event.
In addition to the host Berkeley Stags, Wade Hampton, Goose Creek, Stratford, Colleton County and Cane Bay are back for the second summer.
Andrews and Hanahan will join the mix this year.
Three of the teams had standout seasons in 2018. Berkeley and Hanahan advanced to the third round of their respective playoffs, while Wade Hampton, led by former Stags coach Jerry Brown, made a Lower State final.
Andews, Stratford, Colleton County and Cane Bay were playoff teams.
The first matchup kicks at 6 p.m. and admission is $7. Each of the squads in attendance will get two quarters of scrimmage time.
The first official practice for the season is Aug. 2 and teams can put on full gear on Aug. 7, followed by the first scrimmage date on Aug. 8.
The jamboree will be the final dress rehearsal for four of the five Berkeley County School District teams in the event. Berkeley, Goose Creek, Stratford and Cane Bay open up in Week 0, which kicks off the regular season on Aug. 22-23.
The first full week is Aug. 30.
