Eight runs in the fifth inning led Berkeley Stags Varsity past Wando 15-2 on Friday. Miller McGuire, Jamie Dyches, and Chevy Wrenn each had RBIs in the big inning.
Berkeley Stags Varsity got things moving in the second inning. Berkeley Stags Varsity scored one run when Dyches doubled.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Wando tied things up at two. Mac Ketchin drove in one when Ketchin singled.
Berkeley Stags Varsity pulled away for good with eight runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth McGuire doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring three runs, Dyches singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Wrenn grounded out, scoring one run.
Jack Hedges led the Berkeley Stags Varsity to victory on the hill. The southpaw went three and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five. Rhett Legette and Garrick Barb entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Michael Nastro took the loss for Wando. Nastro surrendered five runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out three.
