Due to forecasted impacts of Hurricane Helene, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) students will learn from home and complete eLearning Day assignments on Friday, September 27. All after-school activities and after-school care programs will close at 6 p.m. this evening. All schools and offices will be closed Friday, and before and after-school care programs are canceled. As the storm system is projected to move out of the area that afternoon, after school activities may resume after 4 p.m. on Friday.

Berkeley Lady Stags fell in a two game lost for a Tri-Match with Hanahan and West Ashley. The stags rallied through some really good points but ultimately fell short.

The coaching staff at Berkeley High School would like to take the time to congratulate the following players that have made the 2024 Volleyball teams. We are excited to get the season underway with the players selected for this season. Practice will be Monday: JV 3-5pm Varsity: 4:30-6:30pm B Team: 4:30-6:30pm. Please all athletes and parents go in and sign and approve all forms on BigTeams for eligibility and verification to be on the Team. Parents and Students will be getting an email invite to thrill share for rooms communication for team information. We will give more information on Monday and parent meeting will follow soon. Berkeley County School District (BCSD) has postponed the first day of school to Thursday, August 15, giving teachers and staff more time to prepare and students an extra day of summer break. This decision comes after recent severe weather and flooding prevented access to school buildings for three days, disrupting traditional classroom and school preparation time for teachers and staff. “We value the dedication of our teachers and staff in preparing classrooms and schools, and this additional day will allow them to better prepare to receive more than 38,000 students on Thursday,” said BCSD Superintendent Dr. Anthony Dixon. “Last week, teachers completed virtual professional development and training so now they can focus on classroom and school needs Monday through Wednesday.” School and district offices will be open regular hours, and extracurricular activities and athletic programs will also operate according to their normal schedule. Information and schedules for school specific meet the teacher and grade specific orientation days have been shared with families by school leaders. Dixon added, “We understand that disruptions in schedules are not easy for anyone so we appreciate the understanding of our parents and community as we work to ensure that the first day is the best it can be for students and teachers on Thursday.” Any weather day adjustments necessary as a result of this calendar change will be reviewed and communicated, if needed, at a later date.

Due to flooding and unforeseen road conditions and closures in Moncks Corner, BCSD is postponed all athletics and have restricted any employees and staff from coming to campus. Please be advised that volleyball tryouts will be TBA until conditions are safe.

BCSD transitions to virtual operations today, August 9 Due to unexpected flash flooding resulting in numerous road closures and impassable road conditions, Berkeley County School District (BCSD) schools and offices will transition to virtual operations Friday, August 9. All extracurricular activities, athletics, and school programs are currently suspended Friday, August 9. BCSD leaders urge staff to stay off of the roads. In collaboration with county and municipal leaders, BCSD will reassess conditions Friday and throughout the weekend and provide updates, as appropriate, concerning potential access to schools and offices. Berkeley High School Volleyball will have the final day of tryouts on tomorrow Friday August 9, 2024 at 4:30pm-6:30pm. Please share and the coaching staff is looking forward to seeing all the athletes who made it through the first round of cuts.

Tryouts for Day 3 at BHS is being postponed until further notice. With the preparation of the storm our school and district is taking all the precautions to secure our facilities and equipment. Unfortunately this is going to delay our start to the season. We will continue to update everyone as we get information in the next coming days. We have seen some good volleyball over the past two days.We have taken into consideration the athletes that we would like to consider moving forward to the second round of tryouts.
